ISABELA – Eight (8) families in the municipalities of Tumauini, Ilagan, San Mariano, Cauayan, Roxas, and Sta. Maria, Isabela received Livelihood Settlement Grants (LSG) amounting to Php 50,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program on November 12, 2021.

LSG is the support provided by the Sustainable Livelihood Program to BP2 to directly capacitate each eligible recipient family to sustain their day to day living. The BP2 Inter-agency Council members such as the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Agriculture (DA) also extended assistance to the families through provision of poultry products and swine production.

Regional Director Cezario Joel C. Espejo said that the livelihood assistance given will help the returning families establish or continue their livelihood or economic activities in the communities where they will return or be settled.

As part of the implementation process, the receiving Local Government Units (LGUs) are also tasked to ensure that the beneficiaries are able to adjust to their new environment by conducting regular monitoring meetings, conferences and counselling with the family beneficiaries.

Mayor Hilario G. Pagauitan of the Municipality of Sta. Maria said, “The benefits that the DSWD has been giving to the families are really an encouragement for them to live their next generation of life here in the province. We, in the LGU, welcome them to live with us in this province and in this municipality, because through this, the families are able to appreciate the concern of the government especially the DSWD.

BP2 program is geared towards developing comprehensive assistance packages to encourage the voluntary and immediate movement of the families to their respective home provinces, especially those stranded in the National Capital Region due to the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic. The Kapit-bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Program of the DSWD is in charge of implementing the BP2 program components under the DSWD
